Inspirational Visit of Jane Goodall in Misiones

Jane Goodall visits Misiones and highlights the importance of it biodiversity.

On Monday, August 12, and Tuesday, August 13, the renowned primatologist visited Misiones and gave and inspiring talk titled «Reasons for Hope» as part of her Latin American tour in celebration of her 90th birthday. During her visit, she emphasized the extraordinary biodiversity of the Misiones rainforest and the urgent need to protect it. Goodall noted that, although the region is protected, it faces threats such as illegal wildlife trafficking and poaching.

Goodall also stressed the importance of educating local communities about sustainable ways of living, highlighting that wothout this, it is impossible to save the ecosystems.

The visit, organized by Jane Goodall Institute Argentina and several local institutios, was a moment of celebration for the province. Local officials and representatives expressed their admiration and gratitude towards Goodall for her tireless work in defense of the environment. Among them was our Executive Director, Juan Emilio Bragado, who refected:

«Jane is an example of fulfiling the legacy that God left us when creating the Earth, to care for and protect it. Her passion is timeless; at 90 years old, she continues to dedicate her life to conservation to leave a better world for the future genarations.»

Goodall toured Iguazú Natinal Park, where she recieved another recognition for her contribution to conservation. Her visit included the recording of audiovisual material to promote the conservation of biodiversity in protected areas.

The Jane Goodall Institute Argentina, which has been working in the country for more than ten years, and the Centre for Subtropical Ecological Research (CIES), with three decades of work in the Cataratas Area, continue their efforts for conservation in the region.
