The impact of deforestation on biodiversity loss and carbon emissions is much greater and immediate than the environmental benefits that may arise from reforestation projects.
Preserving existing forests is crucial to mitigating the effects of the climate crisis. REDD+ projects (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) are an effective tool to conserve and manage forests sustainably, reducing emissions and promoting the development of local communities. These projects not only prevent deforestation, but are also designed to be robust and minimize uncertainty, offering effective and sustainable long-term solutions.
At ACUDE, we are dedicated to expanding these programs in the Southern Cone, where some of the most threatened forests in the world are located. Each new program is a step towards a greener and more sustainable future for all. It is imperative that governments, businesses and civil society work together to stop deforestation before it is too late.
Let’s join forces to ensure a sustainable future!
Protecting our forests is not just an environmental issue, but an investment in the resilience and health of our planet.
